Music scores and papers, 1918-1964.

The Israel Brandmann Collection contains the papers of musician Israel Brandmann (1901-1992), who was active in Jewish musical circles in Vienna between 1924 and 1935. The papers include over ninety concert programs and announcements, 1922-1936; six professional photographs, ca. 1930-1938; and a blue velvet portfolio with an inscribed silver harp of David, 1920, that contains congratulatory letters and certificates praising Brandmann's musical ensemble Kadimah, 1918-1922. Also within the papers are some of Brandmann's unpublished manuscripts, including student compositions, ca. 1925-1927; his symphonic poem Hechalutz = Der Pionier, 1930; three Hebrew language pieces, ca. 1938; and one of his father's compositions, ca. 1919. The Collection includes Brandmann's published scores from the J.T.S. Library's circulating collection, 1930-1935; photocopies of his published and unpublished scores held by other libraries, 1930-1935; and photocopies of several additional concert programs, 1919-1964.

Aron Marko Rothmüller was a singer, composer, musicologist and voice teacher. He was born December 31, 1908 in Trnjani, Croatia and moved to Zagreb when he was about two years old.
